It’s Good to Talk: Bob Willis Fund Supports The New Normal
Your Impact
The Bob Willis Fund is delighted to announce its second grant to The New Normal, strengthening our partnership with this remarkable organisation.
The New Normal has been a lifeline for many, offering peer-to-peer group support and a safe, non-judgmental space for conversations around grief and loss.
Founded by friends who bonded over the shared experience of losing their fathers, The New Normal has made significant strides in breaking the silence around grief. Since the launch of its first ‘Good Grief’ session in May 2018, the organisation has hosted more than 1,300 meetings. These sessions equate to over 100,000 minutes of free grief and mental health peer support, all facilitated by trained volunteers.

A recent survey showed that The New Normal was the only source of support for 29% of attendees. Here’s what some participants had to say:
“The New Normal gives me the space to share my grief in the most caring and loving way available to me.”
“It’s wonderful, I wish a QR code to your website was on every sympathy card and funeral directors info so we can find you more easily.”
Grief is a deeply personal journey, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely one. By providing funding to The New Normal, The Bob Willis Fund is helping individuals navigate the toughest time of their lives. Grief is an experience shared by everyone who loses a loved one, particularly those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

If you or someone you know could benefit from peer-to-peer support, we encourage you to learn more about The New Normal by visiting their website. Their dedicated team is ready to provide a compassionate ear and a community of understanding.
