A New Vision for Cancer Diagnosis: Thanks to You

A New Vision for Cancer Diagnosis: Thanks to You

Imagine a future where prostate cancer can be spotted earlier, diagnosed faster, and treated more effectively — saving lives and sparing thousands from unnecessary procedures. Thanks to your continued support, that future is coming into focus.

Through a grant to Prostate Cancer Research, The Bob Willis Fund is proudly supporting biotechnology company, Less Grey Imaging. Less Grey is developing a pioneering new way to diagnose prostate cancer earlier and more accurately. They are using a cutting-edge ultrasound technique, called Super-Resolution Ultrasound Imaging (SRI), that creates incredibly detailed pictures of blood flow in the prostate and delivers a 20-fold higher resolution than traditional methods. Their technique enables detailed mapping of blood vessel structures and tumour markers, making previously invisible prostate tumours stand out like never before.

In practice, patients undergo a three-minute scan which produces these super-resolution images that makes it easier for doctors to spot areas of concern. This helps inform their clinical assessment and patient management, including triaging for biopsy, assisting in biopsy guidance and aiding treatment planning. With the potential to complement MRI, this innovation could offer a more accessible and accurate diagnostic option.

Early trials of this technology have been extremely promising, with:

  • Over 94% of tumours correctly identified.
  • Machine learning integration to enable clinicians to streamline diagnosis and reduce wait times for patients.

This means faster answers, less invasive procedures, and more lives saved — all made possible through innovation and your support.

Today, Less Grey is preparing for a major next step: launching a Phase II clinical trial in 2025. This will bring us closer to transforming how prostate cancer is — and eventually many other diseases — are diagnosed worldwide, and help to ensure that fewer men face late diagnoses or ineffective treatment pathways.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support is helping to reimagine the future of cancer care.
