Over 200 men tested in 2025 thanks to our partnership with the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation

In 2025, thanks to a strong and growing partnership between the Bob Willis Fund and the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation, more than 200 men across Warwickshire and Birmingham have now had free prostate cancer screening.

Over the course of the year, the collaboration has delivered prostate screening clinics at several local cricket clubs, including:

  • Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club
  • Stratford‑upon‑Avon Cricket Club
  • Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club
  • A dedicated clinic at Edgbaston Stadium for club colleagues and volunteers.

For example, Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club welcomed 56 men for a free testing day, offering PSA tests aimed at encouraging early detection for men aged 50 and over. The warm, familiar environment of a cricket clubhouse helped make the process comfortable and accessible, underlining how bringing screening into community settings removes barriers to vital health checks.

The majority of men screened so far have been given a clean bill of health. But significantly some have received early diagnosis, demonstrating why these community clinics are so important.

As Katie Willis (Bob’s daughter) said, “Cricket clubs are all about community, where people come together and look out for one another. That’s why partnering with the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation for this prostate cancer testing day means so much to us at The Bob Willis Fund. Too many people still don’t realise that every man has a prostate, or understand how prostate cancer affects not only the men we love but their families too. Working with the incredible Dr Jyoti Shah to offer testing, alongside clear, compassionate guidance, is a vital step in raising awareness and helping men take control of their health. This is a huge part of our work and a defining element of my dad’s legacy, which we’re proud to continue in his name.”

Thanks to the momentum built this year, further clinics are planned. We remain committed to working with the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation and local clubs to expand access to free prostate screening, raise awareness and reduce the impact of prostate cancer across our communities.

We’re incredibly proud of what this partnership has achieved so far. Together, we can make early detection and awareness as much a part of community sport as cricket itself.
